Cynthia Ann Crawford, born 20 February 1966 is an American model, actress and TV personality. Through the 1990s and the 1980s she was one of the most famous supermodels. She was also was a regular on runways and magazine covers, as well as fashion campaigns. In the following years, she expanded her acting abilities and entered into business. Crawford received a phone call during her sophomore year by a local clothes shop regarding modeling. It was viewed as an unintentional joke from two of her peers. Crawford was one of the high school girls hired by another store, who also had a fashion shoot. Roger Legel (a local photographer) approached Crawford during her junior year of high school to photograph her. The assignment included a shoot with Crawford to be published in the magazine. Her positive comments and the image inspired her to get modeling. In the beginning, she was working with a small modeling agency. Elite Model Management sold the agency shortly after she signed. At 17 years old she participated in Elite's Look of the Year contest and advanced to the finals at national level.
