Garena has launched it's Garena Professional League (GPL) in the month of May 2012, a 6 month professional gaming competition that features over 100 online matches. GPL's debut season will feature six teams made up of professionals League of Legends players. Teams are composed of the top players in their countries. GPL matches are captured and streamed online with commentary, and are available for viewers to see on GPL's official website. GPL official website. In January of 2013, Garena announced the second Season of Garena Premier League, which began on January 4, 2013. Garena Premier League 2013 includes two teams that are new to Taiwan as well as Vietnam adding the amount of teams up to eight. The teams are AHQ, Saigon Fantastic Five, Bangkok Titans, Kuala Lumpur Hunters, Manila Eagles, Saigon Jokers, Taipei Assassins and Singapore Sentinels. The stadium opened in November of 2014. Garena Electronic Sports Stadium, a space specifically for esports began operations at Neihu District, Taipei. The studio opened in November 2014 at the opening of the League of Legends Masters Series. The league is the world's premier LoL Taiwanese in Hong Kong, Taiwanese, as well as the Macau LoL League which has been spun out of the GPL. In January of 2015, Garena launched Iron Solari League which is a women's League of Legends tournament in the Philippines. The event is bi-monthly which takes place during the second and third quarters of each month. This event aims at encouraging participation of communities with low representation and is open to all women who identify such. Garena is a non-profit organization that organizes events offline for users looking to meet and connect. Garena organizes the Garena Festival in Singapore, Malaysia and other countries.
